After we said the other day that there would be great news this fall on more boy’s suit styles . . .

                   . . . well, news came over the weekend — and —

                                  . . .    it looks like we’re going to be able to start offering some of these new styles right away - maybe even this week!

Just wanted to let you know as soon as we found out!

Have you see how much has been arriving in our Boys Departments lately?

Well, we have to admit - it’s true - that we get so caught up in the beautiful little girls’ dresses that our Boys Departments have some times been the “step child” so to speak.

This Spring we really buckled down and started working for you, our customers with boys. . . .

You will find a really nice selection of basic suits in the “Tailored Suits’ department, which are further broken down for you by price categories:

• Economy - these are great suits at great prices!  It’s pretty safe to say here that they will be all polyester; almost all come complete with shirt & tie - some with vests! 
• Moderate - these are even better suits and still at great prices!  Most are a poly/rayon blend with a beautiful drape that make them look very good indeed. Made with fine detailing; they are usually jacket and pants; shirts and accessories are available separately.
• Better - these are wool or wool blend suits - still at great prices!  While really, really fine boys’ suits can run $240-$360 (and even more) - these are AFFORDABLE good suits you’d be proud for him to wear.
• Tuxedos - yep, boys’ tuxedos in the most popular colors - and several with optional colored cummerbund/tie sets and/or colored vests.
• Informal suits - these are shorts or long pants outfits that are neat, trim and stylish but a little less formal - usually with a vest.  In wonderful colors for baby boys and older boys - especially Ring Bearers.

In addition, we have darling BABY SUITS arriving regularly - these are great for Bris, Baptism - even just plain showing off your new baby boy.

Is there any “rule” about which you have to shop in for your occasion?  Absolutely none!  We just try to make shopping as easy and convenient for you as possible.

Just a quick note that new styles are arriving in the Boys’ Suits Department!

These are economically priced suits - complete ensembles - and you’ll find some very fun colors for Spring.

There’s a lot of work [for us] to do before they’re all up and available — but we wanted to let you know they’re on their way!

We have long been known for our fine quality dresses.  But we are also aware that not everybody is prepared to spend as much on every occasion that comes up.

Simply - some times price is an issue.  So, we have opend Budget-Sensitive Communion Dresses (in the Communion Dresses Dept) and Budget-Sensitive Flower Girl Dresses (in the Flower Girl dresses department)!

Several of the Flower Girl dress styles are ideal for First Communion - and Jr. Brides Maids too.

These are absolutely lovely dresses that are worth every penny of their very economical price!

Dapper new suits have arrived for boys!

Whether you are planning on a Bar Mitzvah  - dressing a Ring Bearer or Jr. Groomsmen - or planning a First Communion, we have WONDERFUL suits for your boys!

You will find a selection of suits in Economy - Moderate - and Fine price ranges.

Many come with choices of vest/tie combinations!

And of course - we have great tuxedos for boys, too!

At long last - the classic Eton suit has arrived again!

These are the classically styled little boys’ suits with no lapel, shorts and a shirt with breton collar.  They can be worn with or without a bow tie.

They are ideal for Ring Bearers — and are also very popular for Baptism and Christening.

They’re intended for the younger crowd (we occasionally get calls for larger sizes like 10 or 12 but this style isn’t appropriate for a boy that old/big, of course).

We get this inquiry a couple of times a year.  A mother has been asked to dress her son as a flower girl complete with dress.  She’s usually concerned and asks us if this is normal.

And the answer is clear - no.

There are certain sects or interest groups who follow this tradition.  We suspect that it comes from the ancient tradition of sending a “decoy” down the aisle to attract evil spirits so the marriage is not cursed. 

But it is not common.  Not today. As most mothers ask us, “is this normal”?  No.

Boys certainly can participate in a wedding party!  Their roles include Ring Bearer, Jr. Groomsmen and Ushers.   They can also be called “Paiges”.  They dress like boys, though it can be short or long pants.

Does this mean you should refuse? No, the matter is entirely in your hands.  If you love the idea and the boy is willing, it’s entirely  your call.

But flower girls are typically girls. 

What are the Ring Bearers wearing?  Brown or ivory, of course.  The PBK-Kevin suit ( http://www.theperfectpear.com/store/stores_app/Browse_dept_items_v3.asp?Store_id=429&Page_id=17&categ_id=3&parent_ids=0,18,1) is now available in brown (and lighter tan too).
